Hello! My name is Raul Esquivel and I am a 21 year old freelance Graphic/Web Designer currently working and living in the beautifully sunny Los Angeles, California. The majority of work I do is in the music industry and I love it. I have been fortunate enough to work with tons of great bands and clothing companies from all over the world on numerous projects ranging from full blown Myspace layouts to T-Shirt designs and Logos. But more recently I have taken an interest in the post-production side to Film and TV. I recently graduated from a film school in Burbank, California called Video Symphony for Motion Graphic Design and 3D Animation. I’ve also began learning some of the more advanced aspects of Web Design and WordPress development.

I began doing graphic design while I was a Freshman in highschool by doing designs for some bands that me and my friends were in. After awhile of doing what seemed to be extremely mediocre work, I began taking a much deeper interest in design after discovering DeviantArt. I was amazed by all the artwork I saw on that site and I immediately began doing as many online tutorials as I could to improve my skills.

From that point forward, I began a rather unorthodox journey into the design world that led me to discover very advanced techniques early on and learn from the best designers around. My personal design style and eye for aesthetic was indirectly molded by what some in my industry would call “chance.” But I tend to think otherwise. While I do not possess any real formal training in design, I think that anybody who really sets out to be the best designer they can be, can learn to acquire such good taste in design by simply doing three things:

1.) Research

2.) Practice

3.) Repeat

Needless to say, all the hard work I did really paid off well. Now I’m not saying that I’m the best designer in the world because I’m far from it. But what I know for a fact is that to be good at something, one needs to take the time to study it from all angles and never give up.
